Safer Recruitment Policy
Introduction
IDC COLLEGE is an independent training center for teaching City & Guilds Fashion and Textiles classes and workshops to a wide age range from age 8 to mature adults.

IDC College have adopted a safer recruitment policy with a big commitment to safeguarding and protecting all children and young people, and adults by implementing robust safer recruitment practices, identifying and rejecting applicants who are unsuitable to work with children and young people and adults .
- IDC College will respond to any concerns about suitability of applicants during the recruitment process.
- IDC College will respond to any concerns about suitability of employees and volunteers once they have begun their role.
- IDC College will ensure all new staff and volunteers participate in an induction which includes child protection.
- IDC College will ensure all new staff and volunteers have the necessary supporting procedures on policies that accompany Safeguarding and the welfare of children, Young People and adults .
- IDC College will ensure that all staff and volunteers are recruited safely and fairly, and that children’s safety is being considered at every stage of the process.
- Any role working with children and young people, safeguarding responsibilities will be highlighted in the job/role description and person specification.
- All advertising of the role will be the first opportunity to send out a clear safeguarding statement about IDC College commitment to keeping children and adults safe. The roles will require a criminal records check even though the position may be paid or volunteer.
- A standard Application pack will be sent out to all candidates to paid and volunteer: application form, the job description and person specification, with an understanding of our safer recruitment process and what is expected of them through each stage of the process.
- A self-disclosure form will be given to shortlisted candidates, which will give them the opportunity to tell confidentially about any relevant criminal convictions, child protection investigations or All candidates know what to do if they have concerns about a child’s wellbeing.
- All staff and volunteers will complete child protection training as part of their induction – even if they say they have done this before. Everyone must have up-to-date knowledge and skills and understand how child protection works in IDC College
- All new staff have mentoring and supervision for a probationary/trial period. This will allow concerns on either side to be raised and responded to appropriately.
- Supervision and training will be regular and ongoing. This gives everyone a chance to reflect on and improve their child protection practice and keeps safeguarding at the front of their minds. This is to make sure everyone is kept up to date with any changes that are made to IDC College Safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures.
