CCTV Privacy Notice

1. Who we are
IDC College is a combined sewing classroom and retail shop based in Bromsgrove.
We use CCTV to help keep everyone safe and to protect our premises. This notice explains how we use CCTV and how your information is protected.

2. Why we use CCTV
CCTV is used for two clear and limited purposes:

• Safeguarding and safety in the classroom — to help protect children and vulnerable learners, to
record accidents or incidents, and to support safe use of sewing equipment.
• Crime prevention and security in the shop — to deter theft, protect stock and equipment, and
ensure the safety of visitors and staff.
CCTV is not used to monitor teaching performance or learner behaviour for assessment.

3. What we record
• Video footage only (no audio).
• Classroom/workshop area.
• Retail shop area.
• Entry and exit points.
No cameras are placed in private areas such as toilets or changing spaces.

4. Lawful basis
We process CCTV footage under legitimate interests (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)).
Our legitimate interests are safeguarding, safety, and crime prevention.

5. How long we keep footage
Footage is kept for 14–30 days and then automatically deleted unless it is needed for an active
safeguarding or security investigation.

6. Who can see the footage
Access is strictly limited to the owner (Sarah). Footage may be shared externally only when:
• required for safeguarding purposes
• requested by the police
• required by law
• an individual requests footage of themselves or their child, where appropriate and lawful
Footage is never shared for marketing or training.

7. How footage is stored and protected
• Secure, password-protected system
• Limited access
• No audio recording
• Automatic deletion after the retention period
• Regular review of necessity and proportionality

8. Your rights
You have the right to:
• request access to footage of yourself or your child (where it does not compromise the privacy of
others)
• ask how your data is used
• raise concerns about CCTV use
• request correction or deletion where appropriate
Requests can be made by contacting Brenda directly.

9. Transparency and signage
Clear signage is displayed at the entrance and inside the premises to inform all visitors, customers,
parents, and learners that CCTV is in operation.
Parents of children attending classes receive this notice as part of their welcome information.
