Uncollected Children Policy

IDC College endeavours to ensure that all children are collected promptly by a parent or carer at the end of each session. If a child is not collected on time, and the parent or carer has not informed us of a delay, we will follow the procedure outlined below to ensure the child’s safety and wellbeing.

Up to 15 Minutes Late
If a parent or carer arrives within 15 minutes of the agreed collection time:
• They will be reminded that they must contact the School if they are delayed.
• They will be informed that late collection fees will be charged unless the delay was
genuinely unavoidable.

Over 15 Minutes Late
If a parent or carer is more than 15 minutes late:
• The manager will attempt to contact the parent or carer using the details on file.
• If there is no response, messages will be left requesting immediate contact.
• The manager will then attempt to contact the emergency contacts listed on the child’s
registration form.
• The child will remain supervised by a member of staff at all times.
• When the parent or carer arrives, they will be reminded of the importance of notifying us
of delays and informed that late fees will apply except in exceptional circumstances.

Over 30 Minutes Late
If the parent or carer cannot be contacted after 30 minutes:
• The manager will contact Worcestershire Social Care (Starting Point) for advice on the next
steps.
• The child will remain in the care of staff, on the premises if possible, until collected by a
parent or carer or placed in the care of Social Care.
• If it becomes necessary to leave the premises, a clear note will be left on the door
stating where the child has been taken (for example, into the care of Social Care) and
providing a contact number.
• A further message will be left on the parent or carer’s phone explaining the situation.

Managing Persistent Lateness
The manager will record all incidents of late collection. Persistent lateness will be discussed
with the parent or carer, and they will be reminded that continued late collection may result in
the child losing their place at the School.
