From Chichester College to Catwalk: Student Sews Seeds of National Success

Fashion and Textiles student Bethan Slatter from Chichester College has been selected as one of just ten finalists to showcase her sustainable black‑and‑white garment on the catwalk at the Fashion & Embroidery Show at the NEC Birmingham. Her design, created using repurposed materials including her aunt’s wedding dress, draws on 1940s–50s Hollywood influences and explores themes of greenwashing through layered, symbolic construction. Bethan’s achievement, alongside three classmates whose work was highly commended, highlights the power of creative education and the impact of flexible, supportive teaching in helping young designers thrive.
